Weekly Word

Do nothing from selfish ambition or empty conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. PHillipians 2:3
This passage guided Archbishop Desmond Tutu out of despair as South Africa was emerging from the nightmare of apartheid. Humility is less about putting yourself down and is more about lifting others up. In this sermon series, which began last Sunday, we will discuss David Brooks’ book, “The Second Mountain,” and the journey from being centered on oneself to being centered on creating a better world for all. If you missed worship, watch that first sermon HERE.
PushPay Update
Thank you for your faithful, ongoing support—it means so much to our church. As we move to our new giving platform, take a moment to transfer your recurring gift using the instructions in an email from Pushpay so it continues without interruption. Our goal is to have all recurring gifts transferred by May 1. Please reach out if we can help. Thank you! –Bob Sperry, 913-671-2325

Bigger than
Ourselves
Carol and Fred Logan, longtime Village Church members, have been involved with the Johnson County Library since the early 1980s. They are being recognized now as the Library prepares to celebrate its 75th year in 2027. Carol funneled her energy into Friends of Johnson County Library book sales, fundraisers, and the Library’s board while Fred served as the Friends board president and was legal counsel for the Library Board of Directors for 44 years—working on policies that ensure intellectual freedom. “Carol and Fred Logan are proof that behind every storybook at the Johnson County Library is a tale of volunteers who turn a passion into something bigger than themselves, benefiting generations to come.”
