Grief Support Group

Come as you are. However you’re grieving—a death, diagnosis, a goodbye that hasn’t happened yet—you’re welcome here. No pressure to share, only room to be.

This monthly grief support group is held at 6 p.m. on first Tuesdays at Mission Campus in Room 232. It is free, open to all, and no sign-up is required. Facilitated by Elena Weaver, LPC, therapist at Prairie Sky Counseling Center.

Growing Through Grief

Growing Through Grief is a five-week series offered to those grieving the loss of a loved one. This group explores what grief looks like, shares stories and finds hope for moving forward. Each attendee receives a free book, Understanding Your Grief by Alan D. Wolfelt. Sessions are facilitated by Rev. Tim Soule and are held at Village Church Mission Campus. Open to all members of the community. The series is free, but registration is required.

Widowers Support Group

The Widowers Group is a weekly support group for men whose spouses have died, or whose spouses are living with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. This group meets at 9 a.m. Thursday mornings in Room 132 at Mission Campus. Twice a month the group is facilitated by a pastor; other meetings are facilitated by members of the group. Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry, headquartered in St. Louis, is a global organization offering spiritual aid to over 1.5 million individuals across 13,000 congregations. Their program at Village Church pairs trained members with those facing life challenges, providing confidential emotional and spiritual support free of charge. Care is tailored to individual needs and can address issues like grief, illness, divorce, or job loss through weekly meetings that continue as long as needed. Faith & Grief

Faith and Grief is a national organization of grief support groups with local, in-person meetings. Led by certified volunteer facilitators, each support gathering is an hour-long program that gives you time to talk about your loved one and your unique grief.

We gather at 10 a.m. on the first Tuesday of the month for coffee, cookies, and conversation at Country Club Christian Church. We will meet in the Youth Room. Enter the church through the glass doors on the east side of the church across from Centennial Park. Members of the leadership team will be there to greet you and show you the way. Parking, including handicap-accessible parking, is available in the Chapel parking lot on 61st St. and Ward Parkway.

PFLAG

PFLAG (“Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays”) is a national organization with over 500 chapters. We are parents, families, friends and gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons who are committed to giving support to one another. Our support groups are a great place to get to know other people with LGBTQ family members and friends, and to receive information and support. Meetings are relaxed and informal, and everyone is welcome. Each person has an opportunity to speak, but no one is pressured. Discussions are completely confidential.

KC Infertility

Share, learn and connect with others who get it. Honestly, we laugh more than we cry. Bring your significant other, a loved one, or just yourself. Peer-led meetings are held on second Mondays in the Young Adult Room at Mission Campus. KC Infertility has no religious affiliation and welcomes all parents-in-waiting.
