Then we will dive into a short series Aug. 10 and 17 that will use scenes from The Chosen—an American historical-drama television series, created and directed by filmmaker Dallas Jenkins—that has been watched by an estimated 280 million people worldwide.

“To be hopeful means to be uncertain about the future, to be tender toward possibilities, to be dedicated to change all the way down to the bottom of your heart.” –Rebecca Solnit

Does this quote remind of you of our former senior pastor, Rev. Tom Are? He was fond of talking about the difference between happiness and joy. In fact, he wrote a book about it: “Joy Even On Your Worst Days” (2021). Rev. Are writes, “To speak joy on your worst days is to acknowledge that if joy is real, it must be powerful enough to address your worst days. Trust that life’s circumstances do not determine the promises of God, but rather, the promises of God lead us through life circumstances.”

As the church, we strive to put joy—and hope—into action. You are the hands and feet of Jesus.
