“Holy Spirit: The Liberator” sermon series (May 11-June 8)
The Holy Spirit is one of the three persons of the Trinity, along with God, our father and mother, and Jesus, the son. Scripture tells us that the Holy Spirit was present at creation, descended upon Jesus at his baptism, called the church into being at Pentecost, and is present among us now. Yet many of us find it challenging to understand who the Holy Spirit is and how the Spirit relates to our lives. Leonardo Boff, a Brazilian liberation theologian, called the Holy Spirit the “liberator” who frees us from the oppressions of sin and gifts us freedom. In this sermon series leading up to Pentecost, Rev. Dr. Rodger Nishioka will explore four ways the Holy Spirit liberates and frees us. Find the series on our YouTube Channel.

‘Lettuce’ sing unto the LORD!
You know it’s spring when the Village Church Food Pantry starts receiving fresh garden produce from area growers. Eighty beautiful heads of spring lettuce were donated by the Abbott eScreen Back40 Garden Crew from their organic garden at 87th and State Line Road. Crops from other gardens (like Village Church on Antioch and Deanna Rose Farms) have started arriving as well. The need in our community is great—the Food Pantry is fielding more inquiries than ever. We appreciate everyone’s support of our mission to supply our neighbors in need with healthy and delicious food!
Worship Times
9 and 11 a.m. (Sanctuary) and 4 p.m. for the Gathering service (Sanctuary, during Friendship Hall renovation) at the Mission Campus
