Signature Mission News
We are excited to share that we have chosen our 2025-2026 Signature Mission: Kanbe’s Markets. Read all about their work in KC, and our decision to partner with them, in this blog post.
August sermon line-up
We will finish the short series on “The Chosen” Sunday, Aug. 17. Aug. 24 is Youth Sunday, where our young people plan and lead worship. And on Aug. 31 (Labor Day weekend), both campuses will enjoy a hymn sing featuring favorite songs of our faith.
Vote to call a new pastor Aug. 17
There wil be a congregational meeting Sunday, Aug. 17 to call a senior associate pastor, per the recommendation of the Nominating Committee. Get hyped.
A voicemail left at the Antioch Campus office last week:
“Hi. I just wanted to call and say thank you. I drive by your campus every single day. Your messages of inclusion and kindness kind of restore my faith in humanity and the religious nature of this area. I wanted to call and say thank you and keep it up.”
Serve
Village Serves on Aug. 18 – Join folks from Village on Monday, Aug. 18 from 9-11 a.m. as we volunteer to make Kansas City a better place! This month we serve at Hope Faith working in their garden. Learn more and sign up HERE.
Food Pantry and Clothes Closet – It’s cereal month! Cold and hot cereals are always needed for a quick breakfast or evening snack. In the Clothes Closet, think back-to-school wear for kids. Thank you!
Habitat KC’s Women Build – 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11. Join Village women to help other women build strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership. Tools, guidance and lunch provided. Email Lisa Harrison by Aug. 20 to register—a few spots remain.

Wednesday Family Dinner Kickoff! We’re back, starting 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10. Join us for hamburgers and hot dogs in the Welcome Center. To register for dinner, click HERE. (RSVP HERE to volunteer and eat free!)

Village Voices Fall Retreat – All students in grades 7-12 are invited to the fall retreat from 1-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23. Come for singing, games, worship, food, and more. Contact Josh Maize to sign up.
Organ Recital – 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5. Hear world-renowned organist Ilona Kubiaczyk-Adler’s free recital titled “Organ Music of Eastern Europe and the Americas” in the Mission Campus Sanctuary.
Pastoral care & Counseling
What is a Stephen Minister? Stephen Ministers are individuals who have caring hearts and the desire to help others. They provide confidential, one-on-one care for those facing a life challenge. Both men and women who wish to become a Stephen Minister receive more than 50 hours of training. If you are interested, please contact either Alice Carrott Eidson or Karen A. Reimer.
Presbyterian Women
Coffee & Connection – 9-10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, Room 232, Mission Campus. Start your weekend with coffee and info about how to get connected with other women at Village through Bible studies, events, and volunteer opportunities. All women are invited.
Quarterly Book Club – 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, Antioch Conference Room. We will discuss “A Slender Thread,” by Katharine Davis.

young adults
Service Saturday – 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16. We’ll head to ScrapsKC (3269 Roanoke Rd, KCMO) to assist our neighbors with their mission of creative upcycling. Kids 3+ are welcome with their young adult parent. Sign up HERE; limit 25 people.
Theology on Tap – 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28. Come to City Barrel (120 East Gregory Blvd.) for good beer and great conversation.
Youth Ministry
Programs are on break in August. Youth programs will begin again on Fall Kickoff Sunday, Sept. 7.
