Meet Our New Elders and Deacons
This past Sunday, Jan. 4, the congregation approved the ordination and installation of the newest group of Elders and Deacons. Each “class” of officers serves for a term of three years, so these newly elected officers will serve until 2028.
A total of twenty-nine elders and elder trustees sit on Session, the governing board of the congregation, and are elected by the congregation. Elders are responsible for the total spiritual welfare of the congregation. Elder trustees perform elder duties and are the corporate officers responsible for fiscal matters, buildings and grounds, and other matters referred by the Session.
Deacons provide hospitality and care by greeting and welcoming people to worship, through sharing The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper with church members who are home-bound and cannot physically attend worship in person, and by reaching out (with phone calls, cards and flowers) to church members who have recently been hospitalized or are going through a difficult time. If you are interested in ministering as a church deacon, please contact Pastoral Care.
We are honored to introduce these new officers to you. Learn more about them below!

My son Jerry and his wife were married at Village, and their two children were baptized at Village. I started attending First Presbyterian Church of Stanley shortly before they became part of Village Presbyterian Church. My husband lost his battle with dementia in 2019, and it was a great comfort to have such a wonderful community to see me through. I look forward to serving as deacon and giving back to Village Church, which has been such an important part of my life.
