Walking with Jesus: Lenten Prayer Walks

Prayer Walk to Porter Park

2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 29

This walk will be an opportunity for us to reflect on native peoples who have called our area home, including the land on which our Mission Campus is built. We will begin our walk at the church’s south entrance with a brief acknowledgment of the Indigenous people who originally inhabited the land the church now stands on. We will then take an approximately 1-mile walk to Porter Park, where guest Frieda Drymon of the Navajo nation will give a brief talk on the art she creates to honor and preserve her Native heritage with examples to share. Prayer Labyrinth Walk

10 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 5

We will meet at the Village Church Food Pantry Prayer Labyrinth (9960 Mission Rd). A 20-minute music and prayer service will start the time together, and then everyone is invited to walk the labyrinth as a spiritual practice of reflection and movement.

Prayer Walk at Liberty Memorial

10 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 12

We will meet at the Liberty Memorial for prayer and liturgy. We’ll read the names of those victimized by gun violence in the past year, including last year’s mass shooting on Valentine’s Day at the Super Bowl parade, which happened right in front of the memorial at Union Station. There will also be an optional walk, no more than a mile, stopping at sites where gun violence has occurred in downtown KCMO.

Easter Lily Donations

Every year, your donations in honor of your loved ones enable Village to send Easter Lilies to our homebound members. Consider making a $15 donation in honor of a loved one, whose name will be printed in the Palm Sunday bulletin (April 13). Or, if you would like to help in another way, we always need volunteers to help deliver the lilies to our homebound members. Contact us if you are interested! Deadline to donate is April 3.
