Here for Good Capital Campaign

“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” –Jeremiah 29:11

A capital campaign allows Village Church to strengthen our mission and ministry in ways that go beyond the scope of our annual operating budget.

We have a cherished legacy of 77 years of faith at Village Church, and by God’s grace, we hope to be here for generations to come. To meet the needs of the present and to prepare for the opportunities of the future, our Session has approved the launch of a capital campaign beginning now through 2028. The campaign hopes to raise 8 million dollars to expand and strengthen our mission and ministries, improve and make safe our gathering and learning spaces, be better stewards of God’s creation, and show to all that they are welcome and belong.

From the Senior Pastor

Rev. Dr. Rodger Nishioka

“The Mission Church on Mission Road.”

Since our beginnings in 1949, that phrase has formed the core of our identity. We exist for God’s mission. In fact, the first official action of our Session was to give funds to the national Presbyterian Church so that new congregations could be formed in other parts of the United States and around the world. We have always been about God’s mission first.

Throughout the years, that call to mission has taken many forms—from sending our founding pastor, Dr. Bob Meneilly, on a sabbatical leave to engage in ministry with Christians in the Philippines, to helping start churches in our own community, to building a brand new ministry center at 99th street for our Child and Family Development Center and Food Pantry and Clothes Closet, to renovating our sanctuary and building a new organ on our Mission Campus, to joining in ministry with our Antioch Campus.

Each time the Holy Spirit has called, we have responded with faithfulness and generosity. Now, as we embark on our next 75 years of mission, we face new challenges for ministry. To meet those challenges, I invite you to prayerfully participate in this capital campaign. Your giving will position us to serve Jesus Christ even more faithfully in the years ahead.

Together, friends, we will show to all that Village Church is Here for Good!

With gratitude and praise to God!

What an exciting time to be a member of Village Church! Over the years, our lives and those of our families and friends have been touched in so many ways and by so many people at Village. Our gratitude for what God has done for us through Village and what together Village has done in our communities and for the world has inspired us to develop the Here for Good campaign.

As Capital Campaign co-chairs, we are convinced that Village has an opportunity to make an impact on others’ lives, today and for years to come, through the projects outlined here. We strive to remain a place where all are welcome, where worship is meaningful and accessible, and where lives are being transformed through existing and developing ministries. It is our firm belief that with God’s help, we will not only continue to improve and steward our facilities, but more importantly, use them to expand our witness of the love of God at a crucial time for our congregation and our world.

Our hope has grown as we have prayed over the Here for Good campaign, and we hope you will prayerfully consider your participation in this opportunity to step beyond our normal routines and invest in the life and witness of Village Church.

Project Focus Areas

Here to Care

Here to Care projects extend compassion beyond our walls and into the future, strengthening our ability to serve neighbors in need and adjust our energy use as a witness to coming generations.

Here to Welcome

Here to Welcome projects create environments where all feel safe, invited, and at home—where hospitality reflects the love of Christ and opens the door to deeper connection.

Here to Stay

Here to Stay projects care for the spaces entrusted to us by addressing years of deferred building maintenance and enhancing the safety and security of our campuses, ensuring they remain places of welcome, worship, and community for generations to come.
