Emergency Assistance
Village Church offers a limited amount of emergency rent or utility assistance to those who need temporary support.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Your household has received less than $500 in total assistance from Village Church for the calendar year (Jan. 1–Dec. 31).
- You are a resident in one of these five counties: Johnson, Jackson, Clay, Platte or Wyandotte.
- You are willing to provide the following personal information: Proof of identity (photo ID preferred), age, current address, number of household members & dependents, and estimate of annual income.
- (Utility assistance) You are able to provide a past-due electric, gas or water bill in the name of an adult household member.
- (Rent assistance) You are able to provide a current copy of your lease and a late payment or eviction notice, if applicable.
Typical assistance per inquiry is $100-$300. The amount may vary based on available funding. Assistance must guarantee continued shelter, utility service or service restoration. This means that if you, a friend/relative, or an agency is paying any remaining balance in addition to assistance from Village Church, we ask that the funds are paid to the landlord or utility first before Village can make a payment.

Please note that Village Church is not a social service agency. We are grateful to be able to offer limited emergency assistance. However, the phone line is not always staffed. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
