Family Worship until Sept. 13 – We look forward to seeing your kids at our Kickoff on Sunday, Sept. 13! Until then, children will worship with their families for the entire service. Beginning Sept. 13, we’ll return to the routine we followed in June and July: children will worship in the Sanctuary with their families through “Time with Children” and then be dismissed to Lighthouse Kids. 

The 10 a.m. worship service at the Mission Campus will go away after Sept. 6. We will return to the 9 & 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. schedule on Sunday, Sept. 13, when we kick off fall programs. “Pop” by the Welcome Center to enjoy our popcorn bar, activities in the Courtyard, and a photo op after all morning services and before & after the Gathering!

A Message from Brooke

Hi Lighthouse Grown-Ups, 

We hope you had a wonderful summer and that the school year is off to a great start! We’ve enjoyed our annual late-summer August respite—a time to reevaluate, discern, and explore the “what’s” and “why’s” of our ministry. But we’re moving and shaking around here as we prepare for a fun and meaningful fall with your kiddos!

We’ve missed your kiddos!

We can’t wait to kick off the fall on Sept. 13! We’ll have treats after worship in the Welcome Center/Courtyard, and we’d love to see you there!

We’ll continue our summer tradition of “hybrid worship.” Kids will begin the service in the Sanctuary with their families and then, following the Children’s Time, Lighthouse kids and teachers will head up to our classrooms together.

Why are we doing this? Good question! We’re trying this rhythm because both research and our experience tell us that one of the most significant influences on a child’s faith beyond high school is regular worship with their family. We want to create opportunities for kids to experience worship not only as something they do at church, but as something they share with the people they love. So, for now, we’re making shared worship a meaningful part of our rhythm together.

New: Wednesdays@Village!

We’re also excited to announce a new weekly Wednesday evening offering! Beginning Sept. 16, Village will have programming after dinners for all ages. Please see menus and details HERE. On third Wednesdays, dinner is free and everyone remains in Friendship Hall to participate in fun group activities or service projects led by a Village pastor or staff person.

For our children’s programming (ages 5 years–6th grade), we’re building our curriculum around service projects. Kids will have tangible opportunities to help our neighbors, meaningful ways to engage with stories from the Bible, and plenty of time for sweet connection with friends and caring adults.

We’re so excited for all that this fall holds, and we’re grateful to share this ministry journey with your families. We’ll see you Sunday, Sept. 13!

Other Upcoming Village Events

TOMORROW: COFFEE & CONVERSATION: 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 2. Join us for our first Coffee & Conversation of the year. (We meet on the first Wednesday of each month.) As we enter our fifth year of this monthly time together, we hope Coffee & Conversation continues to be a place where folks of all ages can come exactly as they are. No perfect answers.  No perfect lives.  Just humans learning together.  We’ll grow in our faith, share honestly, laugh often, and build friendships that last well beyond the first Wednesday of the month. Our prayer is that every time you leave, you’ll feel a little more connected to God, a little more connected to one another, and reminded that you have people in your corner for whatever life brings. Childcare is available; register by email.

OPEN PLAY TIME – 9 a.m.-noon, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Grownups and their littles are welcome to come play in the kid nook in our Young Adult Room (Room 8, Mission Campus) until noon. Grab a coffee while you’re there!

MAHJONG MONDAYS – 6:30-8 p.m., 2nd Mondays, Room 230 (Mission Campus); and 3rd Mondays, Multi-Purpose Room (Antioch Campus). Do you play Mahjong? Bring tiles if you have them!

WOMEN’S FALL BOOK CLUB – True to You by Dr. Kathryn Smith. Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m. Sept. 22, Oct. 6, and 20, Room 8 (Mission Campus). This book is a guide on exploring our identity and values and being your true self.  Register HERE.

BARBIE & ME WORKSHOP– 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, Friendship Hall. Join us as Lauren Claflin, holistic health coach with Compassionate Fix will lead the conversation about the impact perfectionism has on women in today’s world. All women are welcome! Childcare is available. RSVP HERE.

9/11 PRAYER SERVICE – This year marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. We will offer a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 at the Mission Campus to help us remember and honor the 2,977 people who lost their lives, the first responders, and all those affected in the years since.

CONNECT STUDY: ”GROUNDED IN GRACE” – Learn about our Presbyterian roots, history, tenets, sacraments, and much more. This new curriculum was designed and written by Village Church pastors. Connect Groups will begin meeting in September. Contact Carol Solenberger to join a group and learn more.
