Connect Groups Are Back!

Wonderful young adults! Happy fall!

I am excited for sweater weather, pumpkin season, and cooler temperatures. Thanks be to God. The fall also means we are gearing up for another great year of connect groups! We started this in January of this year. I hope you’ll sign up to participate in the same group, a different group, or a brand new group!

Here’s a refresher on what connect groups are:

What is a connect group?

Connect groups are groups of no more than 8 people that agree to meet with each other at least once a month over the course of the year. Your group will watch one of Rev. Dr. Rodger Nishioka’s connect group studies (this year, they are on Jesus’ parables!), discuss them, and share some food and laughs with one another. These are informal gatherings of new and old friends to be together and connect.

Who is in a connect group?

Great question! Fill out the form below to tell us what kind of connect group you would like to be in. If you are partnered, you are welcome to join a connect group as partners, or you can join one solo. Whatever you prefer! There will be some co-ed groups, some gals groups, and maybe a guys group. It all depends on who signs up! We do want to cap each group at 8 so that there can be a close-knit nature to these groups.

How often do connect groups meet?

Our hope is once a month. We know people are busy and life is full. We do not want to add too much to anyone’s plate, which is why Ellen and I (Maggie) will help with as many of the logistics as we can. Our plan is for your group to decide on the date/time of the month that works best (i.e. Sunday afternoon, Tuesday night, Saturday morning, etc). You all can decide! And if you want to meet more than once a month, I will jump for joy. 🙂

Is there a cost to join a connect group?

Nope! To sign up, just fill out the form. We do not want cost to be a barrier to participation. Your group may decide that you want a potluck-style meal, in which case there may be a cost to buy or make a side. However, you can always reach out to me (Maggie) or Ellen to help support you if you need it. We’re always happy to feed people. It’s kind of what we do best.

Do I have to host a connect group?

Nope, again! If you have a space that you want to host in, wonderful. If not, that is okay, too! Restaurants or coffee shops are also an option, and the Young Adult Space at the church is also pretty fun. We would prefer if you hosted off-site so we can be the Church in the world, but we understand that the couches in the YA space are really comfy. And there’s free sparkling water. I am happy to help figure out where best to host your group if brainstorming is needed!

Overall, I hope you consider signing up for a connect group and covenanting to walk with your group for the next year. We believe in the life-changing connection that happens between groups of people showing up for one another. Help us make that magic happen.

Gratefully,

Maggie
