Sun, Spirit, and S’mores: Summer Youth Trips Recap

July was full of movement, laughter, and meaningful connection for our youth. Early in the month, seventeen high school girls and four leaders traveled to Montreat Youth Conference in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. The week was centered on the theme “Light My Path” and offered a powerful mix of worship, music, small groups, and reflection. One morning, the group hiked a mountain together, soaking in the beauty around them and the sense of God’s presence in nature. Whether in a packed auditorium singing praise songs or sharing quiet conversations back at the houses, the Spirit was present in every moment. Many students returned with fresh insight, feeling renewed and encouraged as they carried the theme into their daily lives.

Later in July, our middle schoolers headed out for their summer Float Trip. Fifteen students and four leaders stayed in cabins near the river and spent their days swimming, playing games, and enjoying God’s creation. The rope swing quickly became a favorite, each jump was met with cheers and laughter. The float down the river was relaxing and full of shared joy, giving everyone a chance to connect in a slower, peaceful setting. Evenings gathered around the fire brought moments of gratitude, fun stories, and growing friendships.

Both trips gave our students the chance to step away from their routines and experience God in new and refreshing ways. We are so grateful for the leaders, families, and church support that made these trips possible. It was a summer of faith, fun, and friendship that we won’t soon forget.

Thank You and Goodbye to Our Summer Interns

This summer, our interns dedicated themselves to serving our youth, leading programs, and joining in two exciting trips each. Their hard work and enthusiasm made a real difference and brought so much joy to our community. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment and the positive impact they had on our students. As their time with us comes to a close, we wish Lucy and Sabrina the best as they head back to K-State and Aiden all the best as he returns to KU. Thank you for a wonderful summer!
