Young Adults Attend the Manna Retreat

Along with Rev. Maggie Johnson Phillips, ten young adults from Village Church traveled to Montreat, North Carolina in late January to meet with about 90 other Presbyterians at the Manna Retreat—and to ask big questions, engage in deep conversations, laugh without abandon, and remember that in every single season that we belong to God. We hope more people will join us in January 2026!

New Sermon Series Begins Sunday, Feb. 9

”Saying What We Believe: The Apostles’ Creed”

In the early years of the church, Christians struggled with what to believe. Several controversies arose over whether Jesus Christ was truly the son of God and what his death and resurrection meant. Around 180 C.E., Christians developed an early form of the Apostles’ Creed to refute some of these controversies and to clearly state what we believe. When people sought to join the church, they recited this creed as their statement of faith at their baptism. While the creed is one of the earliest expressions of Christianity, it still holds great meaning and power for our lives today.

green tip of the week:

Air leaks around the attic hatch are common, and they increase your electric bill. If the area below your attic hatch is cold in winter and hot in summer, it means you’re paying to warm or cool air that’s escaping into the attic. Consider installing an attic access cover. *Village Presbyterian Church is certified as an Earth Care Congregation.

Your giving at work

Sing with a glad (and healthy) heart!

Did you know that choral singing has been shown to boost your physical, mental, and emotional health? According to an article published by the University of Oxford, benefits of singing include: improved posture and breathing, regulated heart rate, reduced stress hormones, a boosted immune system, and improved memory. Many of those who sing in choirs also report feeling a deep sense of belonging and community.

At Village Church, there is a way to make music for anyone who wants to do so. There are several ensembles—for adults and children—across our two campuses to choose from. Learn more HERE. Come, sing, give glory to God, AND feel better! Thank you for supporting music ministry.
