Be Still and Know That I Am God: Experiences in Prayer
There are many ways to pray, to find oneself involved in communion with God. May this series awaken your heart to new ways to pray. Each 90-minute session will introduce participants to an approach to prayer and will provide opportunities to experience or practice each. Taught by Diane Quaintance. Wednesdays, March 4, 11, 25 and April 1. 6:30-8:00 p.m. Rooms 126/127.
March 4Practicing Centering Prayer
Finding a still point in our rapidly turning world; responding to God’s call to deeper, quieter prayer
March 11Praying with Scripture
Turning to God’s Word; listening for what the Spirit may be saying to us through sacred passages written long ago
March 25Praying with Beads
Creating a tactile aid to prayer; using our hands to deepen our capacity for attentiveness ($10 for materials)
April 1Praying Through Music
Singing the prayers of God’s people; finding God and ourselves in ancient poems and hymns
