Dominican Medical Missions

Medical Missions

The Village Church currently sponsors four medical/surgical teams, which travel to the Dominican Republic to serve each January, February, March and November. Most of ourDR workers with children volunteers are doctors, nurses and others with some kind of medical background. We also accept people with no medical background who have a desire to help with various tasks in rural healthcare clinics we hold in villages surrounding the city of La Romana. Our clinics offer primary health services and medications. A new feature of our clinics is the addition of video health education stations, which provide important information to empower families to take charge of their health.

Our patients are primarily the rural poor, though we also treat people who live in barrios surrounding the city. Surgical teams work exclusively at a hospital in the city.

Youth in the DRThis is rewarding work to say the least. Our visits may be the only chance these patients will have all year to see a doctor. Though poverty is a huge barrier, they are sincere in their efforts to protect the health of their families and so grateful for the efforts made by our volunteers.

The Dominican Republic is a beautiful country. Volunteers have an opportunity to visit white sand beaches, swim in turquoise water and enjoy some of the typical tourist experiences during their stay.

Sound like something you’d be interested in doing? Sound like an effort you’d like to support?

Give us a call and we’ll tell you the many ways you can get involved.
