StewardshipCollection plate being passed.

At Village Church, stewardship begins with the belief that everything in our lives comes from and belongs to God with the purpose of not only serving, but more importantly, glorifying God. We hope that Village Church members will give of their time, talents and treasures for the good of God's mission here at home and abroad.

An Important Year-End Message

Tax Free Charitable IRA Gifts Extended for 2012 – 2013

The American Taxpayer Relief Act passed by Congress and signed by President Obama on January 3, 2013, includes key provisions which once again enable individuals to make charitable tax-free gifts from Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs).

The provisions included in the new law regarding tax-free IRA charitable gifts made in 2012 and 2013 for individuals who are at least 70 ½ years of age are:

If you made a charitable gift in 2012 through a direct transfer from an IRA, your gift will be treated as a tax-free rollover charitable gift for 2012.

If you received a distribution from an IRA in December 2012, you may make a cash contribution to charity, such as Village Presbyterian Church, before Feb. 1, 2013, and you may elect to treat it as a 2012 tax-free charitable rollover gift from your IRA.

During the month of January 2013, you may make a charitable tax-free rollover gift from your IRA and elect to treat it as a 2012 charitable tax-free rollover gift.

Be sure you discuss this with your tax and legal advisors.
